NFMC attends Annual Barrick Hemlo Tree Plant

NFMC welcomed the opportunity to work alongside and partner with Hemlo Operations of Barrick – Hemlo, Science North – Northwest, and Integrity Reforestation Inc. for Hemlo’s Annual Tree Plant on Tuesday, May 30. Approximately 120 students, grades 6-8, from elementary schools within the region, were onsite to learn the benefits of tree planting and other various science related topics.
Onsite from NFMC to assist with the tree plant: General Manager-Carmelo Notarbartolo, Silviculture Technician-Savannah Paton, Forest Operations Technical Specialist-Joshua DeJong(Drone operator), Senior Forestry GIS Specialist- Shayle Lariviere, and Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator-Brett Redden.

NFMC’s partnership with Hemlo, an organization that advocates for educational and employment opportunities and collaborates with various industry stakeholders, is a wonderful example of how working forests can support and provide multiple benefits.
