NFMC visits Manitouwadge High School for Micro-Fish Hatchery Update

In the fall of 2023, NFMC was proud to be a sponsor of the Manitouwadge Community Micro-Fish Hatchery Project in collaboration with Manitouwadge High School (MHS). The project was spearheaded by Mr. Gord Martin, teacher at MHS.
In the photos, Mr. Linklaters grade 1-3 class from Manitouwadge Public School visited MHS. They learned about the pH and temperature the fish need to be healthy and how to use the microscope to see the unhatched fish and hatched fish up close.
Recently, NFMC’s Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator, Brett Redden stopped in for a visit and learn more about the project and its plans for 2025. Brett also took the opportunity to check out some of the fish eggs under the microscope. Thank you to MHS for the invitation.
Below is an infographic that provides a one-year summary of Manitouwadge’s Community Micro-Fish Hatchery. Highlights include goals, students learning activities, and next steps for the project.
