Every year, NFMC hosts its Annual Health and Safety and Compliance meeting for contractors who work in our management area. NFMC’s Sr. Forest Operations Technical Specialist, Joshua DeJong, and Forest Operations Technical Specialist, Madison Ulitsky, were the team leads, who organized the session in White River. Also onsite were NFMC’s Operations Manager, Neil McDonald, R.P.F., and Planning Forester, Alaina Vandervoort, R.P.F..

Approximately 32 people attended the training session, including representatives of local contractors, mills, representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and other stakeholders.

Topics included:
* Forestry-specific safety concerns and strategies for mitigating risks.
* The role of the Ministry of Labour in workplace safety.
* Considerations for safe forestry operations during fire season.
* Policies and best practices for protecting environmental, human, and other values within the forest.

NFMC would like to express its thanks to all those who attended and helped in making this event a success.

Health and safety is a priority at NFMC, so it was great to have so many people attend this very important session.
