NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC: SAFETY AROUND FORESTRY JOB SITES

The Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation wishes to remind members of the public that while the Big Pic, Pic River, and White River forests are spaces to be enjoyed and used for cultural, recreational, and other personal purposes they nonetheless remain working forests that support the local forestry industry and labour markets in surrounding local communities.

As working forests and active job sites, hazards exist and the NFMC strongly encourages members of the public to avoid entering active forestry job sites. However, if members of the public do enter active forestry job sites the following personal protective equipment (PPE) is required:

  • -Hi-vis jacket
  • -Steel toe boots
  • -Hard hat
  • -Hearing protection
  • -Safety glasses
  • -Work gloves

Failure to adhere with PPE requirements could result in enforcement officials being contacted, personal injury, or fatality.

The NFMC thanks members of the public for their cooperation.
